The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) expressed readiness to support the planned, though not yet officially confirmed, resumption of direct commercial flights between Cambodia and Kazakhstan by Kazakh carrier SCAT Airlines in partnership with Selfie Travel Asia. Following an official visit to Astana by the Prime Minister, the initiative aims to rebuild air connectivity following the suspension of previous charter routes operated between Oct 2024 - Mar 2025. While final launch dates and schedules remain subject to commercial agreements, aviation permits, and regulatory compliance under the One-Stop-Shop system, officials hope the route will secure direct tourism from Kazakhstan and expand Cambodia's reach into broader Central Asian markets including Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan

According to a State Secretariat of Civil Aviation (SSCA) report, Cambodia’s international air passenger traffic was -11% YoY to 4.55 million from Jan-Sep 2026, while total flights across its 3 main hubs were -2% YoY to 46,721. Conversely, air cargo volume was +18% to 76,294 tonnes during the same period. Air Cambodia will launch a flight from Phnom Penh-Vientiane three times weekly from 15 Dec 2026

Air Cambodia has filed further schedule adjustments for the Northern winter 2026/27 season, pushing back its Phnom Penh Krong Ta Khmau service resumptions to Hong Kong (4 weekly A320 flights, now effective 21 Dec 2026) and Cam Ranh/Nha Trang (2 weekly ATR72 flights, now delayed to 30 Mar 2027). The airline is introducing COMAC C909 aircraft across several routes, including new 3-weekly services from Phnom Penh Krong Ta Khmau to Vientiane (from 15 Dec 2026) and Haikou (from 15 Dec 2026), a 4th weekly flight to Nanning (from 21 Dec 2026), and a new 2-weekly Sihanoukville-Chongqing route starting 1 Feb 2027. It will also introduce a Phnom Penh Krong Ta Khmau 2-weekly A320 route to Sanya and Vladivostok starting 17 Dec 2026, upgraded daily A320 flights to Da Nang (from 25 Oct 2026) and Siem Reap-Da Nang, increased frequencies to Guangzhou (14 weekly), Phu Quoc (daily), Delhi (3 weekly), and Fuzhou-Tokyo Narita (5 weekly from 15 Dec 2026)
